Changes to the solar water heating grants scheme

Suppliers

EECA provides grants to property owners who choose to install eligible solar water heating systems. If you wish to join the scheme as a participating supplier, download the application form for solar water heating suppliers.

Eligible systems

To offer your customers ENERGYWISE™ grants, you must nominate systems to EECA that meet certain quality standards outlined in the protocols below. To nominate a system, complete the package system registration form and email to solarsystemadmin@eeca.govt.nz.

Protocols

Read the following to understanding about the protocols around the solar water heating grants scheme:

Installers

For customers to be eligible for grants, their solar water heating systems must be installed by installers registered with EECA.

In order to register with EECA, installers must meet the following requirements:

  • Have completed product specific training by the supplier of the system

And, have either:

  • Successfully completed the Short Course Certificate in Solar Hot Water Installation (or the unit standard 24305 of the National Certificate for Solar Water Heating Installation, or a New Zealand Qualifications Authority approved equivalent course).

And

  • Agree to the rules in the grants scheme protocols (see above)

Changes to the solar water heating grants scheme

The current solar water heating grants scheme will terminate on Tuesday 31 August 2010.

Customers who purchased registered systems prior to 31 August 2010 will qualify under the rules of the current scheme if their system is installed prior to 31 May 2011. Find out more on the process to secure your customers grants under the current scheme. 

A new solar water heating grants scheme will be starting on 1st September 2010. Find out more on the changes compared to the current scheme.
