A research report commissioned by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) into the effectiveness of home ventilation systems, especially with regards to their ability to heat a home.

The Waikato Regional Energy Strategy, which was launched at the Beehive in August 2009, provides a comprehensive map of the Waikato's current energy resources, and a range of recommendations on ways in which the region's energy resources could be further developed. The Waikato strategy, which has been initiated by Environment Waikato and developed with community and business input, has highligted the important role which the region plays in energy production - particularly electricity generation.

An opportunity has arisen for the New Zealand Defence Force to improve the economics surrounding the operation of the Burnham site heating system.

This report evaluates the opportunity to convert or replace coal fired boilers to woody biomass and offers technical recommendations. Options are considered for plant replacement, plant conversion, or use of woody biomass as a duel fuel source.

Within its property portfolio, Manakau City Council has a range of premises, predominantly swimming pools, which are suited for conversion to wood as the principle source of heat energy.
Such a move would bring both cost savings and improved  environmental performance, whilst at the same time retaining value from the Council's expenditureon energy in the local economy
