Research partnerships

To make the most of our research funding and capability, we collaborate with researchers in other organisations including universities, Crown research institutes, private consultants and the energy industry.

National Energy Research Institute

The National Energy Research Institute, or NERI, is one of our most important research partners. NERI represents many energy researchers around the country, and provides strategic and operational advice on energy research issues.

Other government agencies

EECA also works with the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology and others.

International collaboration

EECA is part of a network of international experts in the areas of energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy. Research forms an important part of these links. We collaborate with energy researchers and policy analysts in Europe, North America and Australasia.

We represent New Zealand on the International Energy Agency's Research and Development Expert Group.

We are leading New Zealand's involvement in the the Implementation Agreement on Demand Side Management

We represent New Zealand in energy efficiency forums under the APEC umbrella

Research conferences

Research conferences are a useful way of keeping up with what energy research is currently undertaken in New Zealand and who is doing it, and sharing knowledge on the many different disciplines. EECA sponsors and co-organises energy research conferences.
