Statement of Intent 2008-11

Strategy and policy
1 March 2009

Every day we see new headlines about the environmental, social and economic impact of climate change, and the policies designed to respond to this major international challenge. The issue of sustainability is now centre stage for us all.

Energy efficiency and conservation measures and increasing the use of energy from renewable sources can make a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions while at the same time benefiting individuals through lower costs and a healthier environment.

We now have a clear strategy and direction, set out in the New Zealand Energy Strategy (NZES) and New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NZEECS).

This Statement of Intent sets out how the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) plans to build on our solid work to date and get on with making it happen over the period 2008-11.
