ENERGY STAR® product specifications
To qualify for ENERGY STAR, products must meet the energy efficiency specifications set for their product category.
The specifications are designed so that around the top 25% of models in each product category will qualify for the ENERGY STAR mark.
Depending on the product category, the specifications are developed in the USA or New Zealand.
From time to time specifications are improved and upgraded to keep up with developments in product technology and to provide incentive for manufacturers to constantly improve the energy efficiency of products.
