Using solar or heat pump water heating can cut the long term cost of water heating for New Zealand homes and businesses as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Our solar and heat pump water heating programme
EECA aims to increase uptake of solar water heating and heat pump water heating by:
- Providing financial assistance to consumers
- Providing independent information to help consumers decide what kind of solar water heating system they need
- Motivating demand for solar and heat pump water heating
- Improving quality and cost effectiveness by working with industry, including setting standards and encouraging training opportunities
Funding
EECA provides grants to promote solar water heating:
- A ENERGYWISE™ funding of $500 or $1000 available under certain criteria to homeowners who install solar water heating systems
New programme for solar and heat pump water heating
The Government announced a new funding programme which began on 1 September 2010. It will include heat pump water heaters from late 2010.
