Solar and heat pump water heating
Using solar or heat pump water heating can cut the long term cost of water heating for New Zealand homes and businesses as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Our solar and heat pump water heating programme
By promoting efficient water heating, EECA aims to increase uptake of solar water heating and heat pump water heating by:
- Providing financial assistance to consumers
- Providing independent information to help consumers decide whether solar is suitable for them, and what kind of system they need
- Motivating demand through promotion
- Improving quality and cost effectiveness by working with industry, including setting standards and encouraging training opportunities
- Putting more solar water heating and heat pump water heating systems into public buildings
Funding
EECA provides grants to promote solar water heating:
- A $1000 ENERGYWISE™ grant available under certain criteria to homeowners who install solar water heating systems
New efficient water heating programme for solar and heat pump water heating
The current solar water heating programme is schedule to end this year, and the Government has announced a new funding programme which will begin on 1 September 2010. It will include heat pump water heaters from late 2010.
